When God Shows Up in Your Struggles
Life has a way of bringing challenges we never expected. Whether you’re facing financial uncertainty, relationship struggles, health concerns, or overwhelming anxiety, you might be wondering where God is in the midst of it all. The truth revealed in Scripture and experienced by believers throughout history is simple but powerful: When we lean into God and trust Him, He shows up in big and real ways.
At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, our mission is to “Be the change as Jesus has changed us” through our “Just 3” commitment: Study to love and know God, Share to know and love others, and Serve as love in action. This mission comes alive when we learn to trust God completely with whatever we’re carrying.
You Can Trust God With What You’re Facing Today
Whatever you’re dealing with right now—whatever keeps you awake at night, whatever burden you carried into church this morning, whatever situation seems impossible—God is big enough for you to trust Him with it.
The Bible repeatedly reminds us of this truth. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we’re instructed: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Notice it says trust with “all your heart”—not just the parts that feel manageable, not just the struggles that seem small enough. All of it. Every burden. Every fear. Every worry.
God Has Already Won: You Have Nothing to Fear
Here’s the game-changing truth that transforms how we face difficulty: There is no fear because God has already won.
When Jesus declared “It is finished” on the cross and rose from the dead three days later, He secured ultimate victory over everything that threatens us—sin, death, anxiety, hopelessness, and fear itself. Romans 8:31 asks the defining question: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
This doesn’t mean life will be easy. Jesus himself promised in John 16:33, “In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Notice the order: Tribulation will come. But we can take heart—we can have courage and confidence—because Jesus has already overcome. The outcome is settled. The victory is secure.
God is Good Even When Things Aren’t Good
One of the hardest lessons in faith is this: God’s goodness is not dependent on our circumstances. God remains good even when life feels chaotic. His character doesn’t change when our situations do.
Psalm 34:8 invites us to experience this firsthand: “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
When we trust God during difficult seasons, we discover something profound: His peace transcends our understanding (Philippians 4:6-7), His strength sustains us when we’re weak (2 Corinthians 12:9), and His presence comforts us when we’re afraid (Isaiah 41:10).
Cast Your Burdens on Jesus Christ
The invitation is clear and simple: You have nothing to fear as long as you cast your burdens on Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 5:7 instructs us: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Not some of your anxiety. Not just the acceptable worries. All of it—because He genuinely cares about what you’re going through.
The beautiful promise of Matthew 11:28-30 echoes this truth: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
How to Trust God Today
Trusting God isn’t always easy, but it is always worthwhile. Here’s how to start:
Study God’s Word to know His character and promises. The more you know Him, the easier it becomes to trust Him.
Share your struggles with God honestly in prayer and with trusted believers in community. You weren’t meant to carry burdens alone.
Serve others as an expression of your faith. When you focus on loving others, your own fears often diminish.
You’re Not Alone in This
At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we believe that faith is meant to be lived in community. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone. When you trust God and connect with fellow believers, you discover that God shows up—not always in the ways we expect, but always in the ways we need.
Remember this truth today: God is big enough. He has already won. You have nothing to fear when you trust in the Lord.
