At Lakeview Christian Church, we celebrate a victory that changed everything—a triumph that initially looked like crushing defeat. When we talk about being the change as Jesus has changed us, we must first understand the incredible victory that makes transformation possible.
The Victory That Changed History
The greatest victory in human history didn’t look like a victory at all. The King of Kings was mocked by soldiers, beaten beyond recognition, ridiculed by crowds, nailed to a Roman cross, and buried in a borrowed tomb. To every observer that dark Friday, it appeared that evil had won. Death seemed to have the final word. Sin looked triumphant.
But three days later, everything changed.
The grave could not hold Him. Death could not defeat Him. Sin could not overcome Him. Jesus rose in victorious power, and nothing would ever be the same. This is the foundation of our faith and the reason we can confidently “Study, Share, and Serve” in our mission to be the change.
The Name Above Every Name
Philippians 2:9-11 captures the magnitude of Christ’s victory: “Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
God didn’t just resurrect Jesus—He exalted Him. He gave Him the name above every name. This means Jesus stands above every authority, every power, every throne, and every dominion. When we Study God’s Word at Lakeview Christian Church, this truth becomes the lens through which we understand everything else.
What This Victory Means for You
Christ’s victory over death means several life-changing things for us today:
Freedom from Sin’s Power: Because Jesus defeated sin, we’re no longer slaves to our past mistakes or current struggles. Romans 6:6-7 reminds us, “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”
Victory Over Fear: Death no longer has the final word. First Corinthians 15:55-57 celebrates, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Purpose in Living: Christ’s resurrection gives us purpose. We Serve others not from obligation but from overflow—because we’ve experienced the transforming power of resurrection life.
Living as Victory People
At Lakeview Christian Church, our “Just 3” mission—Study, Share, Serve—flows directly from understanding Christ’s victory. We Study to know and love the God who conquered death. We Share to help others know and love the victorious King. We Serve as love in action because His victory compels us.
When you truly grasp that Jesus defeated everything that could destroy you—sin, death, fear, hopelessness—you can’t help but be changed. And when you’re changed, you become the change in your workplace, your neighborhood, and your community around Portage Lakes.
Every Knee Will Bow
One day, every knee will bow—not just believers, but every created being will acknowledge Jesus as Lord. This isn’t just future prophecy; it’s present reality. The question isn’t whether Jesus is Lord, but whether we’ll acknowledge it now or later.
The victory is won. The King has triumphed. The grave is empty. At Lakeview Christian Church, we gather each week to celebrate this victory and let it transform how we live Monday through Saturday. We invite you to join us in living as victory people—studying His Word, sharing His love, and serving in His name.
The victory that looked like defeat is actually the triumph that changed eternity. Let it change your today.
