Beyond Hosanna: Will You Follow Jesus to the Cross?

follow

The Question That Changes Everything

Jesus sees you. He knows your heart, understands your thoughts, and looks directly into your soul. And He’s asking you a question that demands more than a casual answer:

Will you merely shout “Hosanna,” or will you follow Him to the cross?

More Than a History Book

The Bible isn’t just a collection of ancient stories, historical records, and difficult-to-pronounce names. Yes, it contains genealogies, accounts of kings and soldiers, and events from thousands of years ago. But at its core, Scripture is something far more powerful:

It’s a love story.

It’s the story of a love that came down from heaven to earth and said to you and me: “No matter what you have done, no matter where you have failed, no matter what you think, no matter what you saw, no matter what you did—I love you. And I will do it over and over and over again.”

The Difference Between Shouting and Following

It’s easy to shout “Hosanna!” when the crowd is excited and everyone else is celebrating. It’s comfortable to praise Jesus when it costs us nothing. But Jesus is asking for something deeper:

He’s asking to write His love into your heart.

There’s a significant difference between:

  • Celebrating Jesus from a distance vs. walking with Him daily
  • Praising Him when it’s convenient vs. following Him when it’s costly
  • Knowing about Him vs. truly knowing Him

What Following to the Cross Really Means

Following Jesus to the cross means:

Embracing His love despite your past. No matter what you’ve done, His love remains constant. You don’t have to clean yourself up before coming to Him—He meets you where you are.

Accepting His sacrifice personally. The cross wasn’t just a historical event; it was Jesus’ personal act of love for you. He knew you, saw you, and chose to die for you anyway.

Living in response to His love. When you truly grasp the depth of Christ’s love, it transforms how you live. Following Him becomes not a burden but a joy.

The Invitation Still Stands

Jesus isn’t asking you to be perfect. He’s not demanding that you have all the answers or that you never struggle. He knows your heart—the good, the bad, and everything in between—and He loves you completely.

But He is asking you to respond. Not with empty words or surface-level praise, but with your whole heart.

Your Next Step

If you’ve been shouting “Hosanna” from a safe distance, maybe it’s time to take a step closer. Jesus is inviting you into a love story that will transform your life—not just on Sundays, but every single day.

Let Him write His love into your heart. That’s what Jesus is asking today.

The question remains: Will you let Him?
