Jesus: The Fulfillment of God’s Love Story

At Lakeview Christian Church in Portage Lakes, we believe in the power of a love story—a love story authored by the Divine. In Drew’s sermon, he painted a vivid picture of God’s master plan, a narrative woven with love, obedience, and redemption.

Scripture: Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Picture this: God, the ultimate Author, setting out to write the greatest love story ever told. His characters? Us—created in His image, designed to love, serve, and find our purpose in Him. But as with any epic tale, there comes a plot twist—a tragedy that threatens to unravel the very fabric of God’s story.

In the midst of this love story, tragedy struck. Humanity, meant to walk in harmony with their Creator, chose disobedience. Yet, God, in His infinite wisdom, foresaw this turn of events. He knew the pain it would cause, the brokenness it would bring. And yet, He persisted.

It was through obedience that Jesus, the embodiment of God’s love, journeyed to the cross. In those final moments, as He declared, “It is finished,” the tragedy reached its climax. But that was not the end of the story.

Central to God’s love story is the figure of Jesus Christ. He was not just a character in the narrative; He was the embodiment of God’s plan for redemption. From the beginning of time, Jesus was predestined to restore all that was broken.

In His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled the divine purpose set forth by God. Through His sacrifice on the cross, He bridged the gap between God and humanity, offering reconciliation and restoration to all who believe.

It is through Jesus that we find the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan. He is the key that unlocks the door to obedience—to living in accordance with God’s commands. For in Jesus, we see the perfect example of obedience, even unto death.

As followers of Christ, we are called to walk in His footsteps, to emulate His obedience, and to trust in His plan for our lives. Through Him, we find the strength and the grace to obey everything God commands.

So let us look to Jesus as the author and perfecter of our faith. Let us cling to His promises and His teachings, knowing that in Him, we find the fulfillment of God’s love story. And let us rejoice in the knowledge that through Jesus, we are empowered to live lives of obedience and purpose, in accordance with the will of our Heavenly Father.

As we journey through life’s twists and turns, let us remember the overarching theme of God’s love story. Let us embrace obedience, knowing that it leads to the fulfillment of God’s purpose in our lives. And let us invite others to join us on this journey of faith, to discover the depth of God’s love and the beauty of His redemption.

At Lakeview Christian Church in Portage Lakes, we invite you to be part of this divine love story. The one that God has written from the very beginning of time. Through Just 3 study, share, and serve, let us together experience the transformative power of God’s love. For in Him, the greatest love story ever told finds its ultimate fulfillment. This story is so powerful we can not just put the book back on the shelf we must respond. The response is to share this story with everyone that will listen full of love, truth, and grace.
