Holding Fast to Hope: Trusting in God’s Faithfulness

faithful

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are reminded of the profound truth found in Hebrews 10:19-23. This passage encourages us to draw near to God with confidence, knowing that through the blood of Jesus, we have access to the holy places. It is a call to hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Confidence in Christ: A New and Living Way

The writer of Hebrews paints a picture of the new and living way that Jesus has opened for us through His sacrifice. By His blood, we are granted access to the presence of God, a privilege that was once reserved for the high priest alone. This access is not just a theological concept but a living reality that we are invited to experience daily. As we gather for communion, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus and the confidence we have in approaching God because of His finished work on the cross.

A Call to Draw Near with Assurance

In the sermon, Pastor Tyler emphasized the importance of drawing near to God with a true heart and full assurance of faith. This is a call to trust in God’s faithfulness, even when we face storms in our lives. Just as the disciples faced a literal storm and feared for their lives, we too encounter challenges that test our faith. Yet, in those moments, we are reminded that Jesus is with us, and He is faithful.

Witnessing God’s Faithfulness

Pastor Tyler encouraged us to reflect on the times when God has brought us through difficult seasons. These testimonies of God’s goodness serve as reminders of His faithfulness. Whether you are currently in a season of trial or have recently come through one, take heart in knowing that God is a waymaker. He is present in our storms, and He has the power to change everything when He shows up.

Inviting God into Our Hearts

As we meditate on Hebrews 10:19-23, let us invite God into our hearts and lives. This invitation is not just for a moment but a continual posture of trust and reliance on Him. Our hope is in a God who can change everything, and as we hold fast to this hope, we are empowered to live out our mission to “Be the Change as Jesus Has Changed Us.”

Conclusion: Trusting in the Faithful One

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are committed to living out our mission through our “Just 3” approach: Study, Share, and Serve. As we study God’s Word, share His love with others, and serve our community, we are reminded of the faithfulness of God. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope, trusting in the One who is faithful. Together, we can be the change in our world, reflecting the love and faithfulness of Jesus in all that we do.
