The journey of faith often requires stepping out into the unknown, much like Abraham, Peter, and the ten lepers in the Bible. At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are reminded that faith is not just about belief but about action—trusting God enough to move forward even when the path isn’t clear.
Abraham’s Journey of Faith
Abraham’s story is a testament to faith in action. He set out on a journey without knowing his destination, simply because God told him to go. This act of obedience is a powerful example of trusting God’s plan, even when we don’t have all the answers. Hebrews 11:8 highlights this faith: “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance.”
Peter’s Leap of Faith
Similarly, Peter’s decision to step out of the boat during a storm demonstrates the courage it takes to follow Jesus. Despite the raging seas, Peter trusted Jesus’ command to come. This story, found in Matthew 14:29, encourages us to take bold steps of faith, knowing that Jesus is with us every step of the way.
The Leper’s Act of Obedience
In the sermon, we learned about the ten lepers who walked toward Jerusalem, obeying Jesus’ command despite having no visible evidence of healing. Their journey illustrates that sometimes God’s blessings come as we go, not as we sit still. As James 2:17 states, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Be the Change: Study, Share, Serve
At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, our mission is to “Be the change as Jesus has changed us.” Through “Just 3″—Study, Share, Serve—we encourage our community to live out their faith in practical ways. By studying God’s Word, sharing our faith with others, and serving those in need, we put our faith into action.
Conclusion
Faith is more than belief; it’s a call to action. As we step out in obedience, trusting God’s promises, we experience His blessings in ways we never imagined. Let us be inspired by the examples of Abraham, Peter, and the lepers, and commit to walking in faith each day.
