Embracing Our Adoption and Purpose in Christ

purpose

Welcome to the Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes blog! Today, we delve into a profound truth that has the power to transform our lives and our community. As we reflect on Tyler’s sermon, we are reminded of the incredible gift of adoption into God’s family and the purpose that comes with it. Our mission at Lakeview Christian Church is to “Be the Change” as Jesus has changed us. We do this through “Just 3”: Study, Share, and Serve. Let’s explore how these principles align with the message of adoption and purpose in Christ.

The Gift of Adoption

“That time had fully come, God sent his son, born of a woman born under the law to redeem those under the law that we might receive adoption.” (Galatians 4:4-5)

In Tyler’s sermon, he emphasized the significance of our adoption into God’s family. While we were still sinners, Jesus came to redeem us. This redemption is not just a rescue from sin but an invitation into a restored relationship with our Heavenly Father. We are not merely saved from something; we are saved for something. This truth is echoed in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Study: To Love and Know God

At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe in the importance of studying God’s Word to deepen our love and knowledge of Him. Our adoption into God’s family calls us to grow in our understanding of His character and His will for our lives. As we study the Scriptures, we discover the depth of God’s love and the purpose He has for each of us.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

Through studying the Bible, we learn about the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us and the new identity we have in Him. We are no longer slaves to sin but beloved children of God. This knowledge empowers us to live out our faith with confidence and purpose.

Share: To Know and Love Others

Our salvation is not meant to be kept to ourselves. We are called to share the good news of Jesus with others. Just as Jesus changes everything, we are called to be agents of change in the lives of those around us. Tyler reminded us that our salvation is something to be spread. We are to use our talents, gifts, and abilities to serve God and others.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)

Sharing our faith is an act of love. It is through our words and actions that others can experience the transformative power of Jesus. As we build relationships and share the gospel, we fulfill our mission to “Be the Change” in our community.

Serve: Love in Action

Service is a natural response to the love and grace we have received from God. Just as a son serves his father and a daughter honors her parents, we are called to serve our Lord and Creator. Tyler’s sermon reminded us that we must use our abilities to serve God and others.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe that love is best demonstrated through action. Whether it’s volunteering in our local community, supporting missions, or serving within the church, we are committed to putting our faith into practice. Our acts of service reflect the love of Christ and bring hope to those in need.

Conclusion

As we reflect on Tyler’s sermon and the message of adoption and purpose in Christ, let us remember that we are not just saved from something but for something. Our mission at Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes is to “Be the Change” as Jesus has changed us. Through “Just 3” – Study, Share, and Serve – we can live out our faith and make a difference in the world.

Let us embrace our identity as beloved children of God and use our gifts and abilities to serve Him and others. As we study God’s Word, share the gospel, and serve with love, we fulfill our purpose and bring glory to our Heavenly Father.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of adoption into Your family. Help us to live out our purpose with passion and dedication. May we study Your Word to know You more, share the good news of Jesus with others, and serve with love and humility. Empower us to be the change in our community and beyond. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
