Stewardship Over Self

stewardship

In a world that often prioritizes self-interest and material gain, the call to practice stewardship over self can seem challenging. Yet, this is precisely what Jesus teaches us. At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we strive to “Be the change as Jesus has changed us” through “Just 3” – Study, Share, and Serve.

The Heart of Stewardship

The sermon challenges us to consider how we use our wealth. Do we think of ourselves first, or do we prioritize God’s kingdom? 1 Timothy 6:10 warns us that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” True stewardship involves using our resources to serve others and advance God’s work.

Study: Understanding Biblical Stewardship

To practice true stewardship, we must study God’s Word and understand His principles for managing resources. Matthew 6:19-21 reminds us, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” At Lakeview Christian Church, we encourage our community to engage in Bible study to explore the depths of God’s wisdom.

Share: Inspiring Others Through Generosity

Sharing our journey of stewardship can inspire others to seek the same peace and fulfillment. By sharing our stories and the joy we find in Christ, we invite others to experience the same hope and transformation. Acts 20:35 reminds us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Serve: Living Out Stewardship Through Service

Serving others is a tangible way to live out stewardship. By focusing on the needs of others, we shift our perspective from self-centeredness to selflessness. At Lakeview Christian Church, we offer various service opportunities that allow us to put our faith into action and make a positive impact in our community.

Conclusion

Practicing stewardship over self may seem countercultural, but it aligns us with God’s eternal purposes. By studying, sharing, and serving, we fulfill our mission to “Be the change as Jesus has changed us.” Let us commit to living differently, prioritizing God’s way over the world’s way, and making a lasting impact in our communities.
