Trusting God’s Plan: Embracing Our Identity in Christ

identity

As we step into 2025, the message from Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes is clear: trust in God’s plan. This year, we are called to embrace the identity that God has given each of us, recognizing that He has called us His own and spoken His truth over our lives. This is a year to take hold of that truth and live it out with confidence and purpose.

In Philippians 2:13-14, Paul reminds us, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing.” This scripture serves as a powerful reminder that God is actively working within us, shaping our desires and actions to align with His divine purpose. Our mission at Lakeview Christian Church is to “Be the Change as Jesus has changed us,” and we do this through our “Just 3” approach: Study, Share, and Serve.

Study: To Love and Know God

Studying God’s Word is foundational to understanding our identity in Christ. As we delve into the scriptures, we learn more about God’s character and His plans for us. This year, let us commit to deepening our relationship with God through regular study and reflection. As we grow in our knowledge of Him, we will be better equipped to trust His plans, even when they differ from our own.

Share: To Know and Love Others

Sharing our faith is an essential part of living out our identity in Christ. As we engage with others, we have the opportunity to demonstrate the love and grace that God has shown us. By sharing our stories and the gospel message, we can help others discover their own identity in Christ. Let us be intentional in building relationships and creating spaces where people feel valued and loved.

Serve: Love in Action

Serving others is a tangible expression of our faith and a reflection of God’s love. At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe that serving is not just an obligation but a privilege. As we serve, we become the hands and feet of Jesus, meeting the needs of those around us and making a positive impact in our community. This year, let us seek out opportunities to serve, knowing that our actions can bring about real change.

Embracing Our Identity

As we navigate the challenges and uncertainties of life, it is easy to become frustrated when things do not go according to our plans. However, we are reminded that God’s plans are always for our good. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Trusting in God’s plan requires faith and patience, but it also brings peace and assurance.

In 2025, let us embrace the identity that God has given us and live out our mission to “Be the Change.” By studying His Word, sharing His love, and serving others, we can make a meaningful difference in the world around us. As we do so, we will find that God’s plans are indeed good, and His purposes for our lives are greater than we could ever imagine.

May this year be one of growth, transformation, and unwavering trust in the One who calls us His own.
