Living Faith in Action

action

At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe that genuine faith goes beyond words—it transforms lives and calls us into action. Our mission, “Be the Change,” means letting Jesus’ love change us so we can become agents of change in the world. As we explore the call to live sacrificially, we remember that our actions matter deeply to God.

Our Actions Matter to God

As Tyler reminded us, “Our actions, the way we live our lives, matter to God. That, that it’s not everything, but it’s definitely something.” While we know that salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9, ESV), Scripture is clear that a living faith produces real fruit: “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:17, ESV). God calls each of us to a faith that is visible in the way we love, serve, and sacrifice.

Called to Sacrifice and Reach the Lost

Tyler challenges us not to settle for comfort: “God is calling you to sacrifice. God is calling you to live a life that is not comfortable. To go and reach the lost.” This echoes God’s covenant with Abraham—a blessing not just for one family, but “in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3, ESV). God’s heart is for all people, and He invites us to join in His mission of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, ESV).

Be the Change: Just 3—Study, Share, Serve

At Lakeview, we pursue transformation through what we call “Just 3”: Study, Share, and Serve.

1. Study: To Love and Know God

We begin by seeking God’s heart through His Word. Studying Scripture reveals God’s character and calls us into deeper relationship. Jesus Himself said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37, ESV). By studying, we are equipped to discern His will and trust Him in every sacrifice.

2. Share: To Know and Love Others

Faith in action means reaching out to others. Tyler reminds us: “That blessing was to be a blessing to all nations.” Sharing our lives and faith with others is how we reflect Christ’s love: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another” (John 13:34, ESV). Sharing is not just about words, but about building genuine relationships and meeting real needs.

3. Serve: Love in Action

True love leads to sacrificial service. As James writes, “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” (James 2:15-16, ESV). Serving others is the tangible expression of Christ’s love—putting faith into action, even when it costs us.

Living the Mission

God’s heart is “to bring all people back to relationship with him. And that is our commission. That is our job.” Jesus calls us to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19, ESV). At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, our vision is to be changed by Jesus so we can be the change for others. Whether God calls you to a visible sacrifice or to daily acts of love, He asks you to trust Him, step out, and serve.

Let’s be a church known not just for what we believe, but for how we live—studying God’s Word, sharing His love, and serving in His name. As we do, we become part of God’s great story of redemption, blessing the world as Abraham was blessed—by faith, in action.
