Embracing God’s Presence in Our Inadequacies

God

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are committed to being the change as Jesus has changed us. This mission is lived out through “Just 3” – Study, Share, Serve. Today, we explore the profound truth that God is with us, even in our feelings of inadequacy. This promise, embodied in the name Emmanuel, is not just for Christmas but for every day of our lives.

Study: Understanding God’s Ever-Present Help

The feeling of inadequacy is something we all encounter. Whether it’s a new challenge at work, a personal struggle, or a call to serve in a new capacity, we often question our abilities. Yet, the story of Mary reminds us that God’s presence is with us, guiding and empowering us. In Luke 1:28, the angel Gabriel greets Mary with, “The Lord is with you.” This assurance is not just for Mary; it is for all believers.

Psalm 46:1 tells us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” This verse reassures us that God is always with us, ready to guide and strengthen us. As we study His Word, we learn to trust in His presence and rely on His strength, even when we feel inadequate.

Share: Encouraging One Another in Faith

In our journey of faith, we are not alone. God places people in our lives to encourage and support us. At Lakeview Christian Church, we are committed to sharing our lives with one another, building a community of faith that uplifts and inspires. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”

When we feel inadequate, we can lean on our church family for support. By sharing our struggles and victories, we encourage others to trust in God’s presence and power. Together, we can stand firm in faith, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.

Serve: Trusting in God’s Bigger Plan

God’s presence not only comforts us but also calls us to action. As we serve others, we become the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing His love and light into the world. Even when we feel inadequate, we can trust that God will equip us for the tasks He sets before us.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul writes, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'” This verse reminds us that God’s strength is revealed in our weaknesses. As we serve, we rely on His power, trusting that He will accomplish His purposes through us.

Conclusion: The promise of Emmanuel—God with us—is a source of strength and encouragement in our lives. At Lakeview Christian Church, we are committed to living out this promise by studying God’s Word, sharing our lives, and serving others. As we embrace God’s presence, we find the courage to face our inadequacies and trust in His perfect plan. Let us be the change as Jesus has changed us, confident that God is with us every day.
