Building Our Life on the True Vine: Finding Lasting Foundation in Jesus

In the hustle and bustle of our lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the rush, building our lives on shifting sands that promise stability but crumble beneath our feet when the storms of life hit. But what if there was a foundation that stood firm, unwavering amidst the tempests? Tyler’s message reminds us of the timeless truth spoken by Jesus himself, that he is the true vine, the only solid rock upon which we can build our lives.

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus paints a vivid picture of two builders—one wise, the other foolish. The wise builder, akin to the one who builds their life on Christ, constructs their house upon the rock, while the foolish builder, symbolic of those who rely on anything but Christ, builds upon the shifting sand. When the storms rage, only the house on the rock stands firm.

Tyler draws our attention to this parable, highlighting the essence of building our foundation on Jesus Christ. Just as a house built on solid rock remains unshaken, so does a life anchored in Christ. Jesus declares himself as the true vine, the source of our strength, stability, and sustenance. When we abide in him, remaining connected to his life-giving vine, we find wisdom and security beyond measure.

The passage Tyler shares echoes the profound truth that when we trust God and anchor our lives in Jesus, we weather life’s storms with unwavering faith. Jesus becomes not only the foundation of our existence but also the guiding light through every trial and triumph. In him, we discover true and lasting love, joy, and peace—attributes that elude us when we chase after the fleeting pleasures of the world.

As Tyler encourages us to partake in Jesus, by inviting us to take a deliberate step of faith, affirming our trust in God and our commitment to building our lives on the unshakeable foundation of Jesus Christ. Through the symbols of bread and wine, we remember the sacrifice of Christ—his body broken and his blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins.

Let us heed Tyler’s exhortation to start our week on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ. As we partake of communion, may it serve as a tangible reminder of our connection to the true vine. Let us abide in him daily, drawing nourishment from his Word and finding strength in his presence. In Christ alone, we discover the abundant life we were created to live. At Lakeview Christian Church in Portage Lakes, you will find a group of other people to be on this Journey with you to meet and stay connected to christ.
