God is Still Working: Embracing the Resurrection in Our Lives

resurrection

Have you ever felt like life is just too chaotic, too overwhelming, and you’re not sure where to turn? You’re not alone. Many of us have been there, feeling like we’re stuck in a Good Friday moment—dark, uncertain, and full of despair. But here’s the good news: God is still working, and He’s not done yet. Just as the darkness of Good Friday gave way to the light of Easter Sunday, your current struggles can give way to new beginnings.

In John 20, we see Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John grappling with confusion and despair at the empty tomb. They were looking for a dead Savior, not realizing that Jesus had risen, defeating death and offering hope. This story reminds us that even when we can’t see it, God is working in our lives, turning our mourning into joy and our confusion into clarity.

The Resurrection: A New Beginning

The resurrection of Jesus is not just a historical event; it’s a powerful reminder that God can bring life out of death, hope out of despair. Mary Magdalene went to the tomb expecting to find Jesus’ body, but instead, she found an empty tomb and a risen Savior. Her initial reaction was one of confusion and fear, but when Jesus called her by name, everything changed. She recognized Him and her sorrow turned to joy.

How often do we, like Mary, miss the presence of God in our lives because we’re so focused on our grief or our tasks? We get caught up in the chaos of life, forgetting that God is right there with us, ready to turn our mourning into dancing. The resurrection is a call to lift our eyes from our circumstances and fix them on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

Living in the Light of the Resurrection

So, what does it mean to live in the light of the resurrection? It means embracing the truth that God is still working in your life, even when you can’t see it. It means trusting that He can bring good out of any situation, no matter how hopeless it seems. It means letting go of your fears and doubts and stepping into the new life that Jesus offers.

Here are a few steps you can take to embrace the resurrection in your life:

  1. Recognize God’s Presence: Take time each day to acknowledge God’s presence in your life. Whether through prayer, reading Scripture, or simply being still, remind yourself that He is with you.
  2. Trust in His Plan: When life feels overwhelming, remember that God has a plan for you, and it’s better than anything you could imagine. Trust that He is working all things together for your good.
  3. Share the Good News: Just as Mary was sent to tell the disciples about the risen Jesus, you are called to share the hope of the resurrection with others. Let your life be a testimony to the power of God’s love and grace.

Conclusion

The resurrection of Jesus is a powerful reminder that God is still working in our lives, bringing hope and new beginnings. So, what will you do this week to embrace the resurrection? Will you lift your eyes from your circumstances and fix them on Jesus? Will you trust in His plan and share the good news with others? Remember, without taking this step, you might miss out on the incredible life that God has for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the resurrection and the hope it brings. Help us to recognize Your presence in our lives and trust in Your plan, even when we can’t see it. Give us the courage to share the good news of Your love and grace with others. May we live in the light of the resurrection, embracing the new life You offer us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
