Hope in Christ: Living with Assurance

hope

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are called to be the change as Jesus has changed us. This transformation is rooted in the hope we have in Christ. Jim’s sermon reminded us of the immense hope we find in Jesus, urging us to live with assurance and confidence in our salvation.

The Promise of Hope

Hope in Christ is a central theme of the Christian faith. Romans 15:13 declares, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” This hope is not wishful thinking but a confident assurance in God’s promises.

Study: Understanding Our Salvation

To live with hope, we must understand the foundation of our salvation. This begins with studying Scripture and grasping the depth of God’s love and grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Share: Spreading the Message of Hope

Jim’s sermon emphasized the importance of sharing the hope we have in Christ. By living with assurance, we become witnesses to the transformative power of the Gospel. 1 Peter 1:3-4 encourages us, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

Serve: Hope in Action

Living with hope also involves serving others. By putting hope into action, we demonstrate the love and grace of Christ. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Conclusion

Hope in Christ is the foundation of our faith and the source of our assurance. By studying God’s Word, sharing His love, and serving others, we fulfill our mission to be the change. Let us commit to living with hope and assurance, reflecting the love and grace of Christ in all we do.
