God Is Always Our Refuge
In a world full of distractions, temptations, and spiritual challenges, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or lost. Yet, as followers of Jesus at Lakeview Christian Church, we are reminded that God is always present—offering refuge, rescue, and hope no matter what we face. The Psalmist captures this beautifully in Psalm 84:10-12 (ESV):
“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!”
This passage encourages us, even when the “accuser” (Satan) tries to distract or tempt us, to trust in the God who protects and provides for His people. The world’s powers may be strong, but our God is stronger—He is both our sun (our source of life and light) and our shield (our protector).
Staying on Guard: Recognizing the Enemy
Tyler’s message reminds us that the devil is “very good at his job.” Scripture affirms that we have a real spiritual enemy who seeks to lead us astray (1 Peter 5:8, ESV: “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”). But God calls us to be alert and to stand firm in faith, knowing He is always by our side.

Study: To Love and Know God
We begin by seeking God’s presence through His Word. Regular study of Scripture deepens our understanding of who God is, strengthens our faith, and equips us to face life’s challenges. As Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4, ESV).
Share: To Know and Love Others
The Christian journey is not meant to be walked alone. We are called to share our lives, our stories, and the hope we have in Christ with others. Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV) encourages us:
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another…”
Sharing also means reaching out to those who are hurting, lonely, or searching for meaning. Through authentic community, we reflect the love of Jesus.
Serve: Love in Action
Faith is made visible through serving others—within our church, in our neighborhoods, and beyond. As Galatians 5:13 (ESV) teaches,
“Through love serve one another.”
Serving is not just about doing good deeds; it is about letting Christ’s love flow through us to meet real needs. Whether it’s volunteering at a local ministry, helping a neighbor, or supporting a church event, every act of service points others to Jesus.
Trusting God’s Goodness and Walking in His Ways
Tyler’s reflection on Psalm 84 points us back to the heart of the Christian life: trusting God’s goodness. Even when tempted or discouraged, we remember that God withholds no good thing from those who walk with Him. He is faithful to bless and protect us as we trust Him.
