🏔️ You can study a foundation, inspect the blueprints, even admire how solid a building looks—but you never really find out what it’s built on until the ground starts moving. Psalm 46 says faith works the exact same way. We’re staying in Summer in the Psalms this Sunday with Psalm 46 — written from inside a world coming apart: mountains collapsing into the sea, waters roaring and foaming, nations raging and kingdoms falling. But he didn’t panic. He looked at who was with him — and refused to fear.
🏰 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” — He doesn’t just provide a safe place; He IS the safe place
🌊 “Therefore we will not fear though the earth give way” — confidence isn’t built on what’s happening around you, but on who is with you
đź’§ “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God” — His presence flows steady and quiet even while the world roars
⚔️ “He breaks the bow and shatters the spear” — only God can permanently end war; every earthly peace treaty eventually fails
âś‹ “Be still, and know that I am God” — this isn’t a whisper to relax; in Hebrew it’s a command to raging nations: stop striving, I alone rule history
So here’s the invitation this week: when the ground shifts beneath you, don’t go looking for steadier ground—look to the unshakable God. Remember what He’s already done. Stop striving. And put your confidence in the only One who cannot be moved.
