A Beautiful Picture of Pursuit
Psalm 27 paints a beautiful picture: God inviting, David responding. God calling, David pursuing. This divine dance of relationship shows us what authentic faith looks like—actively pursuing relationship with God in real, tangible ways.
The question for each of us is: Are we truly pursuing our relationship with God? Or have we settled into religious routine without genuine connection?
When People Disappoint
Even in David’s life, human relationships failed. In Psalm 27:10, he declares: “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” David isn’t saying his parents actually abandoned him—he’s making a powerful point about the difference between human love and divine love.
Even when human love fails, God’s love remains. People will disappoint you. Friends will walk away. Family members may misunderstand you. Even the closest relationships can fracture under life’s pressures.
But God? He never abandons. He never gives up. He never turns His back. When everyone else walks away, He takes you in.
Prayer Is Not Performance
At Lakeview Christian Church, we’re learning to bring our fears honestly to God. Too many believers struggle with prayer because they’ve turned it into a performance rather than a conversation.
Some people feel intimidated praying out loud or praying in public. Why? Because others are listening. But here’s the truth: the only person who really matters is the One above.
So pray honestly. Be real. Use authentic language. Be raw in your prayers with God: “God, I’m mad.” “I’m upset.” “Lord God, thank you for…” Tell Him everything. Be as honest and real as you possibly can be.
God already knows what you’re thinking and feeling. You’re not shocking Him or revealing anything new. What He desires is authentic relationship, not polished performance.
Living Out “Just 3”
This honest pursuit of God embodies our church’s mission to “Be the Change as Jesus has changed us” through Study, Share, and Serve:
Study – We learn to know and love God through His Word, discovering His faithful character Share – We honestly communicate with God and others, building authentic relationships Serve – Love in action flows naturally when we experience God’s unfailing love
David understood something crucial: pursuing God isn’t optional for thriving faith—it’s essential. He cried out over and over again, bringing his honest fears and frustrations directly to God.
The Security of God’s Love
When human relationships fail, we can feel devastated, abandoned, alone. But David discovered a security that transcends human connection: God’s unshakeable presence and unfailing love.
This doesn’t minimize the pain of broken relationships. It does provide an anchor when everything else feels unstable. God’s love remains constant when everything else shifts.
At Lakeview Christian Church, we invite you to stop performing and start pursuing—to bring your whole self, honestly and authentically, into God’s presence. His love won’t fail. His presence won’t fade. His faithfulness won’t waver.
When others fall away, He remains. And that makes all the difference.
