He Is Not Here – He Has Risen
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here. He has risen.”
Perhaps the most beautiful line in all of scripture. These words, spoken by angels at the empty tomb, weren’t just news—they were the news. The best news anyone could ever hope to hear. News that would turn mourning into joy, despair into hope, and silence into glory.
When God Breaks the Silence
At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we understand that before resurrection Sunday, there was silent Saturday. A day when heaven seemed mute. When hope appeared dead. When everything Jesus promised seemed impossible.
But suddenly, everything changed.
God was no longer on mute. All of heaven, all the angels, all of creation began shouting because the Son of God was alive! The angels reminded the women at the tomb of Jesus’ own words: “The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified, and on the third day be raised again.”
Words that once seemed confusing now came alive in their hearts. Everything Jesus said was true. He had risen. The tomb was empty—not because of grave robbers, but because Jesus was alive.
The Glory of the Resurrection
This is the glory of the resurrection. In that moment, silence was broken not just for those women, but for all humanity. Every promise Jesus made was validated. Every hope was restored. Every doubt was answered.
At Lakeview Christian Church, our mission is to be the change as Jesus has changed us through “Just 3”:
- Study – to love and know God through His Word
- Share – to know and love others with the gospel
- Serve – love in action for our community
The resurrection is why we study God’s promises—because they’re all true. It’s why we share this message—because everyone needs to hear it. It’s why we serve—because Jesus is alive and working through us.
Why This Matters Today
The empty tomb declares that God keeps His promises. When life feels silent, when prayers seem unanswered, when hope appears lost—remember the tomb. Remember that Sunday came after Saturday’s silence.
Because Jesus is alive, everything changes. Death doesn’t get the final word. Despair doesn’t win. Darkness doesn’t last forever.
The resurrection isn’t just historical fact—it’s present reality.
Every other religious leader remains in their tomb. Only Jesus is alive. Only Jesus conquered death. Only Jesus offers real hope that transforms lives today.
