Love Beyond Limits

Love Beyond LimitsA Call to Action for True Faith

Love is not an option and how we view and treat one another is revealing about what we believe about God. He gives a direct commandment “Love one another as I have loved you.” These words, spoken by Jesus to his followers in John 13, reverberate with profound significance, challenging us to embody a love that transcends boundaries and transforms lives.

As Jim’s sermon powerfully articulates, true faith is characterized by a love that knows no limits. It’s not a love confined to certain circumstances or reserved for particular individuals—it’s a love that permeates every aspect of our being, shaping how we interact with one another on a daily basis. It’s a love that sacrifices forgives, and embraces, mirroring the unconditional love demonstrated by Jesus Christ himself.

But what does this love look like in practice? It’s easy to profess love in moments of joy and celebration, but the true test lies in how we treat and see one another in the midst of life’s challenges and complexities. It’s about extending grace to those who may not deserve it, offering a helping hand to those in need, and showing kindness to even the most difficult of individuals.

At Lakeview Christian Church in Portage Lakes, we are called to embody this radical love in all that we do. It’s not enough to simply attend Sunday services or participate in church activities; true discipleship requires us to live out our faith in tangible ways, both within the walls of our church and out in the community. Just as Jesus declared, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Therefore, let us embrace this call to action with fervent zeal and unwavering commitment. Let us strive to be a beacon of love and compassion in a world that so desperately needs it. Let us engage in Just 3 Study Share and Serve, actively seeking opportunities to grow in our understanding of God’s Word, to share the love of Christ with others, and to serve our community with humility and grace.

As we embark on this journey of faith together, let us be guided by the words of Scripture and the example set forth by our Lord and Savior. Let us love one another not just in word, but in deed and in truth. And may our love be so undeniable, so compelling, that it draws others into relationship with Jesus Christ.

Let us heed the call to love beyond limits, knowing that true faith is evidenced not by our words or our knowledge, but by our love for one another. That Love is not an option for the believer. May Lakeview Christian Church in Portage Lakes be known far and wide as a community of love, where all are welcomed, accepted, and cherished. Together, let us strive to make Jesus known through our love, that the world may see and believe.

Scripture Reference: John 13:34-35 (NIV) – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Call to Action: Let us commit to embodying the love of Christ in all that we do. Let us participate in Just 3 Study Share and Serve initiatives, seeking to grow in our faith, share the gospel with others, and serve our community with love and compassion. Together, let us make a difference in the lives of those around us, reflecting the love of Christ to a world in need.
