At Lakeview Christian Church, our mission is clear: Be the change as Jesus has changed us. Every Sunday, we remember that at the heart of our faith is this call—to love, welcome, and serve others, just as Christ has done for us.
Recently, I read a powerful story that perfectly captures this truth. It told of a missionary who, decades ago, reached out to a young woman who felt hopeless and alone. That act of kindness and inclusion not only changed her life, but rippled through the generations—the write himself is her grandson. If that missionary hadn’t noticed and cared for someone who seemed like they didn’t fit, he would not be here today, sharing the love of Jesus with our church family.
This story illustrates a central truth of the Gospel and echoes the message of James 2: the way we treat one another matters deeply to God. Scripture reminds us,
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10, ESV)
Jesus’ mission was to reach the overlooked, the outcast, and the lost. And that mission continues through us—His church.
Our Communion: Remembering Grace for Every Story
Every week at Lakeview Christian Church, we gather at the Lord’s table for communion. This practice grounds us in the core of the Gospel:
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, ESV)
No matter where we’ve been, what we’ve done, or what we can offer, Jesus’ invitation is for all. Our worth isn’t defined by our past or our achievements, but by His sacrificial love.
When we celebrate communion, we remember that every person—no matter how overlooked—matters infinitely to God. Our hearts turn to gratitude and humility, knowing we were all once lost, but are now found in Christ.
“Just 3”: Study, Share, Serve—Living Out Love in Action
At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe transformation happens when we live out our faith in everyday actions. That’s why we practice “Just 3”:
- Study to love and know God
- Share to know and love others
- Serve to put love into action
1. Study: Rooted in God’s Word
We ground our lives in Scripture, allowing God’s truth to reshape how we see ourselves and others. As James 2 reminds us,
“My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.” (James 2:1, ESV)
Studying God’s Word helps us recognize and reject favoritism, so we can see each person through Jesus’ eyes.
2. Share: Welcoming Each Story
Sharing isn’t just about words—it’s about truly seeing and listening to the people around us. Each story, like the writer’s grandmother’s, holds immense value.
“If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing well.” (James 2:8, ESV)
We are called to create a community where everyone feels known, accepted, and loved.
3. Serve: Love Made Visible
Faith comes alive when we serve others, especially those who might feel left out or unseen. Jesus calls us to action:
“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:18, ESV)
By serving, we become the hands and feet of Jesus, embodying His love to a world in need.
Be the Change—One Life at a Time
At Lakeview Christian Church, we invite you to join us in this mission. Whether you’re new to faith or have followed Jesus for years, you are welcome. Together, let’s be the change—studying God’s Word, sharing our lives, and serving with love—so that every person who walks through our doors knows their story matters, and that Jesus can change everything.
