What Does “Engage in Business” Really Mean?
When Jesus told His followers to “engage in business” until He returns, He wasn’t talking about corporate careers or entrepreneurship. He was issuing an active call to obedience. The Greek phrase literally means “get to work, occupy yourself with a purpose.”

Faith Without Works Is Dead
James 2:26 delivers a powerful truth: “Faith without works is dead.” While we don’t earn salvation through our actions, genuine faith always produces fruit. Real life with Jesus isn’t about spiritual laziness or idleness – it’s about active faithfulness.
Think of it this way: you don’t get to heaven by what you do, but what you do reveals the authenticity of your faith. As Jesus challenges us, it’s time to get off the sidelines and make an eternal difference.
The “Just 3” Path to Active Faith
Study: Love and Know God
You can’t share what you don’t know. Studying God’s Word equips you to live purposefully. Daily Scripture reading, prayer, and biblical learning form the foundation of active faith.
Share: Know and Love Others
Have we occupied ourselves with sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ? This means having spiritual conversations with neighbors, inviting coworkers to church, and being ready to explain the hope within us (1 Peter 3:15).
Serve: Love in Action
Jesus calls us to put our hands to the plow. Serving in your community, volunteering at church, helping those in need – this is where faith becomes visible and tangible.
Make a Difference That Lasts
The question isn’t whether you’re busy – it’s whether you’re busy with things that matter eternally. Are you investing your time, talents, and resources in God’s kingdom? Are you making disciples, serving the hurting, and advancing the gospel?
Real life with Jesus means doing something that lasts beyond your lifetime. It means building God’s kingdom one conversation, one act of service, one faithful step at a time.
