God’s Promise: A New Heart for His People
Centuries before Jesus walked the earth, the prophet Ezekiel spoke words of hope to God’s people—a message that still echoes in our church today. He declared,
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”
— Ezekiel 36:25-27 (NIV)
This is more than an ancient promise; it’s God’s enduring commitment to not give up on His people. Even when we wander, even when our hearts grow hard, God’s desire is to cleanse, renew, and restore us. He doesn’t simply urge us to “try harder.” He offers to do the impossible: to give us a new heart—one that beats in rhythm with His love and responds to His Spirit.
Fulfillment in Christ: The Gift of Being Made New
As followers of Jesus, we are privileged to live on the other side of this promise. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus makes possible the heart transformation Ezekiel foreshadowed. In Christ, we are offered a complete exchange: our brokenness and failure for His forgiveness and new life.
Paul writes,
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
We no longer have to carry the burden of our past or the weight of our shame. Jesus cleanses us, not just on the outside but deep within. He removes our idols, softens our hearts, and fills us with His Spirit so we can walk in obedience—not out of fear, but out of love.
Our Mission: Be the Change
At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe this transformation isn’t just personal—it’s missional. Jesus changes us so that we can be agents of change in our families, neighborhoods, and world. That’s why our mission is to be the change as Jesus has changed us—to let the love and renewal we’ve experienced overflow into how we live and serve.
How do we live out this mission? Through “Just 3”: Study, Share, and Serve.
Study: To Love and Know God
We begin with God’s Word. Studying Scripture isn’t just an intellectual exercise—it’s how we come to love and know God more deeply. As Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” As we soak in God’s truth, our hearts are shaped, our minds are renewed, and our lives are aligned with His will.
Share: To Know and Love Others
Jesus calls us to love God and love our neighbors (Matthew 22:37-39). We “Share” by building relationships, telling our stories, and listening to the hearts of others. True transformation flourishes in community—when we carry each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), encourage one another, and invite others into the story of Jesus’ love.
Serve: Love in Action
Love must be lived out. Serving is how we put love into action, meeting needs in our church and beyond. As Jesus said, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45). Whether it’s lending a hand to a neighbor, volunteering, or stepping up in church ministry, serving allows us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to a world in need.
