Growing in Faith Through Thanksgiving

thanksgiving

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are reminded of the importance of acknowledging and giving thanks for the growth in our faith community. In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul highlights the significance of recognizing the good happening within the church. This message is as relevant today as it was then.

Thanksgiving for the Faithful

Paul begins by expressing gratitude for the Thessalonians’ growing faith and love for one another (2 Thessalonians 1:3). This thanksgiving is not just a pat on the back but a recognition of their active participation in the mission of the church. At Lakeview, we echo this sentiment by encouraging our congregation to “Study, Share, Serve.”

Study: Growing in Knowledge and Love of God

Studying God’s Word is foundational to growing in faith. The Thessalonians didn’t have the Bible as we do today, but they shared stories of Jesus and His teachings. We are blessed with the Scriptures, which guide us in understanding God’s love and purpose for our lives (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Share: Spreading the Gospel

Sharing the gospel is a vital part of our mission. The early church spread the message of Jesus through word of mouth, and we continue this tradition by sharing our faith with others. As we share, we build a community rooted in love and truth (Matthew 28:19-20).

Serve: Love in Action

Serving others is an expression of our faith in action. By serving, we demonstrate the love of Christ to those around us, fulfilling our mission to be the change as Jesus has changed us (Galatians 5:13).

Conclusion: As we reflect on Paul’s message of thanksgiving, let us continue to grow in faith by studying, sharing, and serving. At Lakeview Christian Church, we are committed to being a community that embodies the love of Christ, transforming lives one at a time.
