Youth and Their Exciting Role in God’s Kingdom

Current Sermon Series: Proverbs - The Way of Wisdom

Meet the Next Generation of Jesus Followers

The last week of June, Tyler’s youth group returned from Round Lake camp with hearts full of commitment and a renewed sense of direction. The experiences the kids shared and the decisions they made are a testament to the overwhelming power of God’s love and guidance. In a world where youth are frequently confused or uncertain about the future, it is refreshing and deeply encouraging to witness a generation of young people who are gladly choosing to let God define their identity and purpose.

A Heartfelt Commitment

The camp experience was more than just a week away from home; it was a spiritual awakening for many of our youth. They came back with a profound realization: they don’t want Jesus to be just a part of their lives; they want Him to be the center of it. This shift in perspective is monumental. It represents a deep, personal commitment to live out their faith in every aspect of their lives in a world that is often counter to that.

These young individuals began having meaningful conversations, not just with their peers at camp, but also with their families and spiritual leaders back home. They expressed a desire to integrate their faith into their daily lives, to let it shape their decisions, actions, and interactions. This is a powerful step towards spiritual maturity and a deeper relationship with God. It’s a wonderful moment to celebrate our youth and the hope it brings for the future.

Youth Discovering Purpose Through Gifts

One of the most beautiful aspects of this journey is seeing our youth discover their God-given gifts and talents. Each one of them is unique, with different skills and passions, and they are beginning to understand how they can use these gifts for the kingdom of God.

For instance, there are kids who are tech-savvy and passionate about media. As pastor Drew pointed out, “I’m someone who works extensively with media, and it warms my heart to see these young individuals stepping up, eager to use their skills to serve the church. They are not just learning; they are excelling, often surpassing our expectations. Their enthusiasm and dedication are inspiring, and they are setting a wonderful example for their peers.”

Drew goes on to mention how there are also kids who are talented in photography and videography. They are using their skills to capture moments, tell stories, and share the beauty of God’s work in our community. Their contributions are invaluable, helping us to document and share the incredible things God is doing in our midst.

Serving with Passion

Beyond the realm of technology and media, our youth are finding ways to serve in various other capacities. Some are athletic and are using their energy and skills to help with volunteer work, fundraisers, and kids’ events. Their willingness to serve, to give their time and effort for the benefit of others, is a testament to their growing faith and commitment to living out God’s purpose for their lives.

These young individuals are not just participating; they are leading. They are taking initiative, organizing events, and inspiring others to get involved. Their passion and dedication are contagious, and they will make a significant impact on our community.

A Community of Support

The journey of discovering and embracing God’s purpose is not one that our youth are undertaking alone. They are supported by a loving and caring community of family members, spiritual leaders, and peers. This support system is crucial in providing guidance, encouragement, and accountability.

Parents, grandparents, and other family members play a vital role as well, engaging them in conversations, offering wisdom, and cheering on their children as they navigate this important step. Spiritual leaders are providing mentorship, helping these young individuals understand and apply biblical principles to their lives. And peers are offering camaraderie, walking alongside each other, and sharing in the joys and challenges of this exciting journey.

The Bigger Picture

What we are witnessing is not just a series of individual transformations, but a collective movement towards a deeper, more authentic faith. These young individuals are not content with a superficial relationship with God; they are seeking something more profound, more meaningful, a way to participate. They are embracing their identity as children of God and discovering their purpose and mission in His kingdom—within the church and in the community.

This movement is a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in our young people, of providing them with opportunities to encounter God in meaningful ways, and of supporting them as they grow in their faith. It is a call to action for all of us to be intentional in our efforts to nurture and disciple this next generation.

Moving Forward

As we move forward, let’s continue to pray for our youth, support them, and celebrate their progress. Let us encourage them to keep seeking God, to keep discovering their gifts, and to keep using those gifts for His glory. And let’s be inspired by their example, reminded of the incredible things that can happen when we let God define our identity and purpose.

As we look back at Camp week, the journey of our youth is an encouraging testament to the power of God’s impact on people of every age. For them, it’s a journey that’s just beginning and we should be excited to see where God will lead them! Let’s walk alongside them, encouraging them every step of the way as they learn, stumble, and succeed in their identity and purpose found in Jesus Christ.
