Living a Life That Pleases God

Colossians 1:10 (NIV) states, “So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Living a life that pleases God involves more than just following a set of rules. It requires a deep, personal relationship with Him, characterized by wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.

Bearing Fruit in Every Good Work

John 15:5 (NIV) says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Bearing fruit in every good work means that our actions should reflect our faith. Whether we are serving in our community, helping a neighbor, or sharing the gospel, our lives should be a testament to God’s love and grace.

Increasing in the Knowledge of God

2 Peter 3:18 (NIV) encourages us, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” Increasing in the knowledge of God involves studying His Word, spending time in prayer, and seeking to understand His will for our lives. It is through this deepening relationship with God that we can live a life that pleases Him.

Being Strengthened with All Power

Ephesians 3:16 (NIV) says, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” Living a virtuous life requires strength and endurance, which we can only receive through the power of the Holy Spirit. This strength enables us to persevere through trials, remain patient in difficult circumstances, and find joy in our journey.

Giving Thanks to the Father

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) instructs, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” A life that pleases God is characterized by gratitude. By giving thanks to the Father, we acknowledge His goodness and faithfulness in our lives. This attitude of gratitude helps us to remain focused on Him, even in challenging times.

Living a life worthy of the Lord involves bearing fruit in every good work, increasing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power, and giving thanks to the Father.
