No Shortcuts to Glory: The Call to Worship and Serve

shortcut

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, our mission is to “Be the change as Jesus has changed us.” This involves a commitment to worship and serve God wholeheartedly, without seeking shortcuts. In the wilderness, Jesus faced the temptation to bypass His mission, but He remained steadfast, teaching us the importance of unwavering devotion. This lesson is crucial for us as we navigate our own spiritual journeys.

The Temptation of Shortcuts

Satan offered Jesus a shortcut to power and glory, tempting Him to abandon His mission and avoid the cross. However, Jesus’ response was clear and decisive: “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve” (Luke 4:8). This teaches us that there are no shortcuts in following God; true worship and service require dedication and sacrifice. Jesus understood that the path to glory was through obedience and suffering, not through compromise. His example challenges us to remain faithful to God’s plan, even when it is difficult.

Share: Knowing and Loving Others

As we share our faith with others, we must do so with integrity and commitment. At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe in building genuine relationships and sharing the love of Christ without compromise. By participating in community outreach and small groups, we can share our faith and love with others, reflecting Jesus’ example of service. Sharing our faith is not just about words; it is about living out the gospel in our actions and interactions. 1 Peter 3:15 encourages us to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”

Application: Be the Change

In our daily lives, we are often tempted to take shortcuts, whether in our careers, relationships, or spiritual journeys. However, Jesus’ example reminds us that true fulfillment comes from following God’s path, even when it is challenging. By worshiping and serving God with our whole hearts, we can be the change in our communities and inspire others to do the same. Worship is not just about singing songs on Sunday; it is about living a life that honors God in every aspect. Romans 12:1 urges us to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Conclusion Jesus’ refusal to take shortcuts in His mission is a powerful lesson for us all. As we worship and serve God, let us do so with the same dedication and integrity, trusting that His plan is perfect and His timing is divine. Let us commit to being the change in our communities by living lives of worship and service, reflecting the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
