Loving as Jesus Loved

love

Love is the defining characteristic of a follower of Christ. At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are called to love one another as Jesus loved us, wholeheartedly and without expectation. This love sets us apart and transforms the world around us.

The Command to Love

In John 15:12, Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us. This love is not conditional or self-serving but sacrificial and unconditional. It is the love that Paul noticed in the Thessalonian church and the love that we strive to embody at Lakeview.

Study: Understanding Christ’s Love

Studying the life and teachings of Jesus helps us understand the depth of His love. Through Scripture, we learn how to love others as He did, with compassion, grace, and truth (1 John 4:7-8).

Share: Demonstrating Love in Community

Sharing love within our community is essential to our mission. By loving others, we reflect the heart of Christ and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and accepted (Romans 12:10).

Serve: Love in Action

Serving others is love in action. At Lakeview, we are committed to serving our community, meeting needs, and making a difference in the lives of those around us (Matthew 25:35-40).

Conclusion: As we strive to love as Jesus loved, let us remember that love is not just a feeling but an action. At Lakeview Christian Church, we are dedicated to being the change as Jesus has changed us, loving others through studying, sharing, and serving. Together, we can transform our world with the love of Christ.
