“Embracing Our True Identity As His Children!

In today’s world, where individuality and self-reliance are often celebrated, it’s essential to remember that we are, first and foremost, children of God. This profound truth carries with it a responsibility and a calling to live in a way that reflects our divine heritage. As members of Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are reminded that our identity as God’s children should shape our actions, our interactions, and our impact on the world.

Embracing Our Identity

Jim’s sermon powerfully highlights the significance of understanding and embracing our role as children of the Most High. The scripture 1 John 3:1 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” This verse underscores the incredible love God has for us and the honor of being His children. But what does this mean for our daily lives?

Reflecting God’s Love

Living as children of God means more than just attending church services or participating in religious activities. It calls for a transformation that goes beyond our personal spirituality and extends to the way we influence the world around us. Jim’s words urge us to consider our roles and the impact we are making. “What do you love doing? What do you love sharing?” he asks. Whether it’s shopping, teaching, serving, or any other activity, there are always opportunities to reflect God’s love to others.

Serving and Loving Others

Every person we encounter is someone who needs Jesus. The simple acts of kindness, a listening ear, or a helping hand can be profound expressions of God’s love. Imagine walking into a store with the mindset that you are there to shine God’s light. How would your interactions change? By intentionally seeking to serve and love the people God places in our paths, we become agents of change in our communities.

Alive in Christ

Ephesians 2:4-5 reminds us, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” This passage emphasizes that we were once dead in our sins, but through Christ, we are made alive. As living beings, we are called to action. Dead people don’t do anything, but those who are alive in Christ are empowered to change the world.

Making a Difference

Jim’s sermon challenges us to go beyond merely being changed by listening to God’s word. It’s about being proactive in making a difference. “Let’s change the world one life at a time,” he declares. This mission is not about what we do on our own but about what Jesus does through us. Our gifts, passions, and daily routines are avenues through which God’s transformative power can flow.

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are committed to moving towards a better life full of Jesus. Through our “Just 3” initiative—study, share, and serve—we aim to deepen our faith, share the gospel, and serve our community. By embracing our identity as children of God, we can collectively impact the world, one person at a time.

A Call to Action

So, how can you live differently as a child of God? Start by identifying your unique gifts and passions. Seek out opportunities to serve and love others in your daily life. Remember, every small act of kindness and every moment of genuine care can be a reflection of God’s love. Let’s commit to living in a way that people see God through how we live, transforming the world through the power of Jesus Christ.

Let’s step into our identity as children of God with confidence and purpose. Together, we can make a lasting difference.

Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes invites you to join us in this journey of transformation. Together, let’s embrace our calling and change the world through the love of Christ.
