He Changes Who We Are

change

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, our mission is to “Be the Change” as Jesus has changed us. We do this through “Just 3”: Study, Share, and Serve. We study to love and know God, share to know and love others, and serve to love in action. Today, we delve into the transformative power of Jesus Christ and how He changes who we are.

The Real Reason We Need Jesus

The real reason we need Jesus is because of our sin. As Tyler discussed during our time around the Lord’s table, Jesus died for us to bridge the separation caused by our sin. In the darkness of our lives, we needed someone to rescue us, and Jesus came to do just that.

Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This verse underscores our universal need for redemption. Jesus offers us a chance to be renewed, redeemed, and ultimately saved. This transformation begins when we make the decision to follow Him.

The Decision to Follow Jesus

With redemption comes a responsibility on our part. When we decide to change our relationship from the “other guy” to our Savior, we must ask ourselves, “Who do I belong to?” The answer is clear: we belong to Jesus.

1 John 4:19 states, “We love because He first loved us.” This verse reminds us that our relationship with Jesus is not solely our choice; God chose us first. Understanding this divine selection is crucial in our journey of faith.

The Power of Redemption

Redemption is not just a one-time event; it is a continuous process. As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, we are constantly being renewed. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This transformation is a testament to the power of Jesus in our lives.

Study, Share, Serve

At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe in the power of transformation through Jesus Christ. Our mission to “Be the Change” is rooted in our commitment to “Just 3”: Study, Share, and Serve.

  1. Study: We study the Word of God to deepen our understanding and love for Him. Through Bible studies, sermons, and personal devotion, we seek to grow in our faith.
  2. Share: We share our faith with others to spread the love of Jesus. By building relationships and engaging in meaningful conversations, we help others discover the transformative power of Christ.
  3. Serve: We serve our community as an expression of God’s love. Through acts of kindness, volunteer work, and outreach programs, we put our faith into action.

Conclusion

Jesus changes who we are by offering us redemption and a new identity in Him. As we embrace this transformation, we are called to study His Word, share His love, and serve others. At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are committed to being the change as Jesus has changed us. Who do you belong to? The answer is clear: we belong to Jesus.
