Absolute Truth: Finding Life in Jesus

Relativism often reigns supreme, the concept of absolute truth can seem elusive. Yet, as believers, we anchor ourselves in the firm foundation of truth, knowing that it is absolute and unwavering. And where do we find this truth? In Jesus Christ, who unequivocally declared, “I AM.” Drawing from the insights and truths in John 15, we embark on a journey to explore the essence of truth and its embodiment in Jesus.

Drew’s exposition on John 15 underscores the unequivocal nature of truth. As John 15:1 is “I Am the True Vine. And my Father is the vindresser”. Drew reminds us that truth is not a subjective construct but an absolute reality, and it finds its embodiment in Jesus Christ. “Truth is absolute and Jesus is absolutely the truth” When Jesus declares, “I AM,” he proclaims his divine identity, affirming that he is God incarnate.

Jesus’s “I AM” statements in the Gospel of John serve as beacons of truth in a world clouded by falsehoods. As Drew aptly articulated, Jesus unequivocally declares, “I am the bread of life,” emphasizing that true satisfaction is found in him alone. In a culture inundated with fleeting pleasures and empty promises, Jesus stands as the ultimate source of fulfillment. Moreover, Jesus boldly proclaims, “I am the truth.” In a world where truth is often distorted and muddled, Jesus emerges as the epitome of truthfulness. He is not merely a truth among many; he is the absolute truth. Every facet of his being radiates with authenticity and integrity, offering us a firm foundation on which to build our lives.

Drew’s sermon resonates with the profound significance of Jesus’s “I AM” declarations. Each statement encapsulates a facet of his divine nature and redemptive mission. From proclaiming himself as the resurrection and the life to affirming his role as the way, the truth, and the life, Jesus leaves no room for ambiguity. He is the ultimate reality, the unchanging truth upon which we can confidently anchor our faith.

At the heart of Drew’s message lies a simple yet profound truth: in Jesus, we find life. Not just mere existence, but abundant, purposeful life. As we immerse ourselves in his truth, we discover the depth of his love and the richness of his grace. Jesus’s invitation to abide in him is an invitation to experience true fulfillment and joy.

As we reflect on Drew’s sermon and delve into the profound truths of Jesus’s “I AM” statements, let us meditate on John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” In this verse, Jesus beckons us to abide in him, to remain rooted in his truth and love. As we do so, we bear fruit that glorifies God and testifies to the transformative power of his presence in our lives.

The concept of absolute truth stands as a beacon of hope. Lakeview Christian Church in Portage Lakes invites you to embrace Jesus as the absolute truth and find in him the abundant life you long for. Let us anchor our lives in his unchanging truth and experience the fullness of his love and grace.
