Trusting in God’s Perfect Timing: A Reflection on Faith and Promise

reflect

At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are committed to our mission to “Be the Change as Jesus has Changed Us.” This mission is lived out through our “Just 3” approach: Study, Share, and Serve. By studying to love and know God, sharing to know and love others, and serving as love in action, we seek to embody the transformative power of Christ in our lives and community.

In a recent reflection, we delved into the profound theme of God’s perfect timing, as highlighted in the transition between the Old and New Testaments. This period of waiting, spanning approximately 500 years, was a time when many wondered if God would truly deliver on His promise to restore the broken relationship between humanity and Himself.

Study: Understanding God’s Promise and Timing

The promise of restoration is a central theme in the Bible. Despite the long period of silence between the Old and New Testaments, God’s plan was always in motion. Romans 5:6-9 beautifully captures this truth: “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person, though perhaps for a good person one would dare even die. But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This scripture reminds us that God’s timing is perfect. Even when it seems like He is silent or distant, He is working behind the scenes to fulfill His promises. As we study God’s Word, we learn to trust in His sovereignty and His perfect plan for our lives.

Share: Encouraging One Another in Times of Waiting

At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe in the power of community and the importance of sharing our faith journeys with one another. The period of waiting between the Testaments serves as a reminder that we are not alone in our doubts and uncertainties. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”

By sharing our experiences and testimonies, we can uplift and inspire each other to remain faithful, even when God’s answers seem delayed. Our community is a place where doubts can be expressed, and faith can be strengthened through mutual encouragement and prayer.

Serve: Living Out Love in Action

The ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise came through the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection restored our relationship with God, offering us salvation and hope. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

At Lakeview Christian Church, we are committed to serving our community as an expression of God’s love. Whether through acts of kindness, volunteering, or supporting those in need, we strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus, demonstrating His love in tangible ways.

Conclusion: Trusting in God’s Faithfulness

As we reflect on the promise of restoration and the perfect timing of Christ’s sacrifice, we are reminded that God’s timing is always perfect. Even in moments of doubt and uncertainty, we can trust that He is working behind the scenes, orchestrating His divine plan. At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are dedicated to being the change as Jesus has changed us, through studying His Word, sharing our faith, and serving others with love.

Let us continue to walk in faith, trusting in God’s promises and His perfect timing. As we do, we will experience the transformative power of Christ in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
