Day 1: Grace That Restores
Scripture: John 21:15-17
Reflection: In this passage, Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves Him, mirroring Peter’s three denials. This isn’t just about forgiveness; it’s about restoration. Jesus doesn’t discard Peter despite his failure. Instead, He reinstates him with a fresh call to love and shepherd His people. This is a powerful reminder that no failure is too great for God’s grace to restore us to usefulness.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace that not only forgives but restores. Help me to trust in Your ability to renew my purpose, even when I fail. Amen.
Application: Reflect on a time when you felt you failed. How can you allow God’s grace to restore you and use you for His purposes today?
Day 2: Love Leads to Responsibility
Scripture: John 21:15-17
Reflection: Jesus ties Peter’s love for Him to the responsibility of caring for His people. Love for Jesus is not just about words; it’s about action and service. Jesus meets us in our weakness and uses it for His glory, calling us to serve others as an expression of our love for Him.
Prayer: Jesus, help me to express my love for You through serving others. May my actions reflect my devotion to You. Amen.
Application: Identify one way you can serve someone in your community this week as an expression of your love for Jesus.
Day 3: Discipleship Means Death
Scripture: John 21:18-19
Reflection: Jesus predicts Peter’s martyrdom, reminding us that following Him often involves sacrifice and suffering. True discipleship means taking up our cross daily, denying ourselves, and following Jesus, even into discomfort and uncertainty.
Prayer: Father, give me the courage to follow You, even when it leads to sacrifice. Help me to embrace the cross in my daily life. Amen.
Application: Consider what “taking up your cross” looks like in your life. What is one area where you can deny yourself to follow Jesus more closely?
Day 4: The Call to Follow
Scripture: John 21:19
Reflection: Jesus’ command to Peter, “Follow Me,” echoes His initial call to the disciples. Despite past failures and future challenges, the call remains the same. Jesus invites us to follow Him with renewed passion and commitment, trusting in His guidance and strength.
Prayer: Lord, renew my passion to follow You. Help me to hear Your call and respond with faith and obedience. Amen.
Application: Spend time in prayer, asking God to renew your passion for following Him. Write down any specific ways you feel called to deepen your commitment.
Day 5: Renewed Passion
Scripture: John 21:15-19
Reflection: Peter’s story is one of renewed passion and purpose. After denying Jesus, he is restored and given a greater challenge. This renewal is available to us as well. Jesus offers us a fresh start and a renewed purpose, calling us to love, serve, and follow Him with all our hearts.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for renewing my passion and purpose. Help me to live each day with a heart on fire for You. Amen.
Application: Reflect on your journey with Christ. How has He renewed your passion and purpose? Share your story with someone who might need encouragement.
