In the midst of life’s chaos and demands, we often find ourselves carrying heavy burdens. Whether it’s the stress of work, family obligations, or personal challenges, these burdens can weigh us down, leaving us weary and in need of relief. Yet, in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus offers us a profound invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
At Lakeview Christian Church of Portage Lakes, we are reminded that despite the different distractions and burdens we face, we all share a common need: the need for Jesus. His invitation to “come to me” is a call to lay down our burdens and find true rest in His presence. Jesus assures us that we don’t have to carry our burdens alone. He offers to take on our load, providing us with the peace and rest our souls desperately seek.
This invitation is not just a promise of physical rest, but a deep, soul-refreshing peace that only Jesus can provide. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light, meaning that when we align ourselves with Him, we find strength and comfort in His gentle and humble heart.
As we gather together, whether in worship, fellowship, or personal reflection, we are encouraged to meet Jesus in this sacred space. It is an opportunity to call on His name, to exchange our burdens for His peace, and to experience the transformative power of His love.
At Lakeview Christian Church, our mission to “Be the Change” is rooted in this relationship with Jesus. Through our “Just 3” approach—Study, Share, Serve—we strive to deepen our love for God, extend His love to others, and serve with compassion. By embracing Jesus’ invitation to rest, we are empowered to live out our mission, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.
Let us come to Jesus, find rest in Him, and be the change that reflects His love and grace to the world. As we gather together, may we all meet Jesus in this place, call on His name, and find the rest and peace that only He can provide.
