You might be wondering how to navigate the new year with all its uncertainties and challenges. If you’re like most of us, you probably have a list of resolutions and plans that you hope to achieve. But what happens when things don’t go as planned? How do you respond when life throws you a curveball? In our recent sermon, we explored the idea that while we often focus on our own plans, God has a bigger, better plan for each of us. This year, let’s learn to trust in God’s plan, even when it doesn’t align with our own.
The main point of the sermon was clear: God’s plan is always at work, even when we can’t see it. Throughout the Bible, we see two storylines: our story and God’s story. Often, we mess up our part, but God steps in to redeem us. This is evident in the birth and life of Jesus, who came to fulfill God’s promise of salvation. As we enter 2025, we are encouraged to trust in God’s plan, knowing that He has created each of us with a purpose.
So, what does this mean for you? First, it means recognizing that your life is part of a larger story. God has good plans for you, plans that are meant to bring you hope and a future. When things don’t go your way, instead of grumbling or complaining, lean into the truth that God is in control. Philippians 2:12-14 reminds us to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,” trusting that God is working in us for His good purpose.
Here are some practical steps you can take to align with God’s plan this year:
- Embrace New Beginnings: Just as the birth of Jesus marked a new chapter in history, let 2025 be a year of new beginnings for you. Reflect on what God has done in your life and be open to the new things He wants to do.
- Trust in God’s Timing: Like Simeon and Anna, who waited patiently for the Messiah, practice patience and trust in God’s timing. Remember, His timing is always perfect, even when it doesn’t match our own.
- Live with Purpose: Understand that you were created for more than just going through the motions. Seek to live with purpose, sharing the good news of Jesus with those around you. Be intentional in your relationships and in your walk with God.
- Serve Others: Jesus came to serve, and we are called to do the same. Look for opportunities to serve those in your community, showing them the love of Christ through your actions.
As you consider these steps, ask yourself: What can I do this week to trust God’s plan more fully? How can I live with purpose and serve others in a way that reflects His love?
Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect plan for our lives. Help us to trust in Your timing and to live with purpose, serving others as Jesus did. Guide us in 2025 to embrace new beginnings and to lean on You in all things. May we be a light to those around us, sharing the hope and joy that comes from knowing You. Amen.
