WHAT WE BELIEVE
Lakeview Christian Church is a part of the communtiy of believers known as The Restoration Movement. These churches are usually identified as Churches of Christ or Christian Churches. Though this community is not a denomination, we do share a similar set of beliefs and views. At Lakeview, we focus on the teachings of scripture, and we strive to model our church after the truths we find in the New Testament. It is our goal to cling to the essential truths of scripture, and to offer freedom, of thought in matters of opinion. At Lakeview Christian Church, we believe:
That Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and rose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15: 1-8 & John 3:16)
That the Bible is the inspired word of God - a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)
That every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
That forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16)
That those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him. (Romans 10:9 & Acts 2:38)
That the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to evangelize the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
That Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
The Christian church
The Christian Church is composed of people who accept Christ as the Son of God and Lord of Life. It is not sectarian, nor is it denominational. It is the Body of Christ. wherein dwells the Spirit of God. We have no conference, convention or earthly authority over us -- only Christ and His Word. We seek the unity of all believers in the essential matters and the freedom of local churches and individual Christians in matters of opinion.
No creed but Christ, no name but the divine.
No book but the Bible, no rule of faith and practice but Scripture.
Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent.
In faith, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things, love.
